The department of Civil Engineering is committed to the task of providing quality education, which will transform the students into efficient and successful engineers. Students who have graduated from the department are already serving in responsible positions, in India and abroad.

The department of Civil Engineering interacts with leading construction firms through M.O.U., in the fields of Structural Designs, Soil Investigations and Design of Foundations, Earthquake Engineering, Development of High Performance Concrete, Rehabilitation of Structures, Environmental Pollution Control, etc.

Academics
Under Graduate :
These regulations are applicable to the students admitted from the Academic Year 2018-19common to all B.Techprogrammesunder the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. By following the norms of UGC, BIHER had introduced the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with effect from the Academic year 2015-16 and the same is revised and adopted the Choice Based Flexible Credit System (CBFCS) in the faculty of Engineering and Technology with effect from the Academic year 2018 – 19.The revision undertaken in this regulations is mostly based on the Model Curriculum suggested by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The curriculum is outcome based. The structure of the program includes basic foundation courses like mathematics, physics and chemistry; courses in Engineering Sciences and Technical Arts. State-of-the-art lab facilities make the learning process an enjoyable experience. Periodical guest lectures, technical competitions like Symposium, National Conference, International Conference, Seminars, Workshops, Industrial Visits, Model Making Competitions, Poster Presentation, Drawing Competition, Oratorical Competition, Career Development Program and Guest lectures. Student seminars and industrial visits ensure a holistic development of students.
Post Graduate :
The curriculum is outcome based. The structure of the program includes basic foundation courses like mathematics, physics and chemistry; courses in Engineering Sciences and Technical Arts. State-of-the-art lab facilities make the learning process an enjoyable experience. Periodical guest lectures, technical competitions student seminars and industrial visits ensure a holistic development of students.
The department offers Ph.D programs in all major civil engineering disciplines, both full time and part-time. Research areas of various specializations of Civil Engineering.

The School of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering is consisting of one of the oldest departments of this University namely Department of Civil Engineering, at it is started in the year 1984, the year of start of the institution itself. The Department has sound faculty strength of 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors and 14 Assistant Professors and total of 21 faculty members.
The Department offers Undergraduate Programme in Civil Engineering and Postgraduate Programmes in Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering. The Overall student strength in UG program is 302 and 27 in PG program.
This Department is equipped with 9 laboratories, including Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory. A well-equipped Smart classroom is also available to conduct Workshops, Technical Seminars, Guest Lecture Programs, etc. To improve the teaching pedagogy sufficient number of LCD Projectors are also available. Power point presentations are made often to teach the students as and when required.
Every year the Department organizes various student and faculty activities like Faculty Development Program, Students Symposium, National Conference, International Conference, Seminars, Workshops, Industrial Visits, Model Making Competitions, Poster Presentation, Drawing Competition, Oratorical Competition, Career Development Program, Value Added courses and Guest lectures. ABET accreditation was obtained for B.Tech Civil Engineering Program during the year 2018, which is valid for five years.
The faculty members regularly publish technical papers in Scopus Indexed Journals. The expertise of the faculty members are utilized by the various private and government organizations. Regularly the students participate in the competitions; workshop and seminars organized by other Institutions and get the awards and prizes.
